Hello and welcome!
Here I am sitting on Mt. Rubidoux overlooking the city after a rainy day. The intensity of colors on that late afternoon was powerful and made the ascent one of a kind. As a high school teacher of students with diverse language and cultural backgrounds, I have great appreciation of the life-changing power of words and communication. Language shapes and gives color to our reality. It allows for self-expression and impacts our relationships with others and the world around us.
I have been a teacher with the Lake Elsinore Unified School District since 2005 and I have taught English 9 through 12 along with English Language Development (ELD) for students who are learning English as a second language.
Originally from Germany, my passion is teaching English (especially as a second language) in culturally diverse environments. I received my undergraduate degree (B.A.) in German and English from the University of Regensburg, Germany followed by an M.A. from the University of Oregon in Germanic Languages & Literatures, and an M.A. in Education from the University of Phoenix Online. Prior to teaching high school, I taught German and English courses at various colleges and universities in Southern California and Oregon.
My children and their families live in Washington State, and I love being a grandma of five beautiful grand-children. As you can see from the picture, my husband and I greatly enjoy nature, hiking, and the outdoors.
I love reading and I do most of it using electronic devices. Technology is a gateway to the world and offers unlimited opportunities of creative expression; we use it to learn, communicate, collaborate, play, and work. It is my hope that through it all, you will grow as a student and as a person. Every journey begins with a step, and every step originates from a word of intent, encouragement, and courage. I believe we can all impact this world .... one word and one step at a time.
So let the journey begin!
